Privacy Policy

Jot It Down is built to keep what you write private. The short version: your notes, journal, habits, and lists stay on your device and sync only through your own iCloud account. We don’t run analytics, we don’t use third-party trackers, and we never sell your data — because we never have it.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you create in Jot It Down — notes, journal entries, habits, lists, tags, and settings — is stored on your device and synced across your devices using Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) in your private database. That data is tied to your Apple Account. We, the developer, have no access to it and cannot read it.

Data we collect

In normal use the app collects no personal data. There are no accounts to create, no sign-in, no advertising identifiers, and no analytics or crash-tracking SDKs. The one exception is if you choose to contact us through Help & Feedback — described just below.

Help & Feedback (support requests)

If you send us a support request — through Help & Feedback in the app’s Settings, or the support form on this website — it goes to our support system so we can read and reply to it. A request includes:

• the message you write, and any screenshot or file you attach;
• your email address — only if you enter one, so we can respond;
• from the app, basic technical details — the app version, your device model, and platform — to help us reproduce the issue;
• from the app, a random per-install identifier used only to limit spam and abuse. It isn’t tied to your identity and isn’t used to track you.

Your notes, journal, and other content are never included in a support request — only what you type into the form. We use this information solely to handle your request; we don’t sell it, share it, or use it for advertising or tracking. You can ask us to delete a support request at any time by emailing support@jotitdown.net.

Device permissions

Some optional features ask permission so the app can show helpful context on each day’s journal page. When you turn them on, the data is read on your device only and is never written back, stored by us, or transmitted anywhere:

• Apple Health (iPhone only) — reads your activity rings to display them on a day page.
• Calendar — reads events to show them alongside a day.
• Reminders — reads reminders to show them alongside a day.

You can turn any of these off at any time in the app’s Settings or in your device’s Settings. The app never writes to Health, Calendar, or Reminders.

Backups

You can export a backup file of your data from Settings. That file is saved wherever you choose (for example, Files or Finder) and is entirely under your control. We don’t receive a copy.

This website

If you choose to enter your email address on this site to get launch updates, we store that address securely to email you about Jot It Down and nothing else. We don’t share or sell it, and you can have it removed at any time by emailing support@jotitdown.net. If you never enter your email, we don’t collect anything.

Children

Jot It Down is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above.
